Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Telephone, October 31, 1893, p. 4. Note: The first line of the item identifies the deceased as William Stephenson but he is later referred to as Mr. Johnson. There is a listing in the book County Cemeteries of Monroe, published by the Monroe County Historical Society, 1998, for William Stephenson, buried at Clear Creek Cemetery, with the death date of 29 October 1893 and a birth date of 12 May 1962, p. 110. There is no similar listing for anyone surnamed Johnson in the same cemetery, buried in October 1893. William Stephenson, living about 4 miles southeast of the city, died Sunday morning of typhoid fever. He had been sick about two weeks, and from the first the disease gave evidence of a fatal termination. Mr. Johnson was about 23 years old and was a son-in-law of John Stipp, a well known farmer south of town. He was a model young man in all respects, and held in the highest regard. The funeral will take place at Clear Creek church Tuesday morning, and will be in charge of Rev. L. T. VanCleave. Constance T.
