Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Weekly Star, March 13, 1924, p. 2. W. H. ADAMS MAKES A STATEMENT TO WORLD Editor Evening World: There seems to be in some quarters some confusion about the water question. In order to make clear my position, I am addressing this letter. There was once a discussion as to where to locate our waterworks plant. That is past. The council voted to go to Griffy Creek and pasesd [sic] resolutions to carry out the same. The city attorney, J. E. Henley, advised the council their proceedings were illegal. These proceedings were introduced as evidence before the state utilities commisison [sic] at the hearing, and the commission ruled it was not a judicial body and the courts would have to pass upon the legality of the proceedings. Then ten taxpayers filed a suit upon appeal in order that the question could be settled and the issue of preferred stock be legal. That is the case in the Monroe circuit court at this time and I have no doubt Judge Rundell will see that it is promptly attended to. There is not desire on my part, or anyone else as far as I know, to delay the matter. W. H. ADAMS. (Editor's Note-The attorneys for the water company informed The World this afternoon that the legal action referred to above would be decided by Judge Rundell in circuit court here tomorrow morning).
