    2. Constance Shotts
    3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Weekly Star, March 29, 1924, p. 1. HATED TO SEE OLD PLACE BURN Walter Collins, the veteran retired business man, had a feeling that when the Shaffer grocery store burned Monday night, it was next to his old home being destroyed, as he was in business in that room for over 30 years. One article, however, escaped of the few things that were saved, to which he was very much attached, and that was an old writing desk with drawers that Mr. Collins had used in the rear of the room-it was the first piece of furniture that the firm of Collins & Karsell had purchased 48 years ago when the two men went into business and Mr. Collins claimed it as a keep-sake when the store was sold. Strange to say, it is only slightly damaged, and Mr. Collins will take it home to use the rest of his life. Constance T.
