Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Progress, January 10, 1872, p. 3. HERE'S AN ITEM.-McCalla & Co. (although a little late) wish to say "Happy New Year" to their friends, and ask them, in the same breath, to "pay that little bill!" All persons having unsettled accounts on the books for 1871, need not expect credit until the old score is settled. The firm will at once begin to send statements, and insist that they shall be paid! or you know what comes next. Now, they intend to clear out the old stock, and every man, woman or child in the county can get goods at almost cost, for cash. They are closing out in earnest-not advertising dodge. [Confidential.-We learn that McCalla & Co., are insolvent-that they can only pay a certain number of cents on the dollar of their indebtedness-and that they are selling their goods for just what they can get-they want to sell out before their creditors hear of it!] Constance T. Shotts, Ed.D., CG(SM) CG and Certified Genealogist are Service Marks of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, used under license by board certificants after periodic evaluations by the Board and the board name is a trademark registered in the US Patent and Trademark Office.
