Riddle, of Monroe county, and Mrs. John Adkins and a little girl were thrown out of their buggy by the horse becoming frightened as they were going home from this city, Monday evening, and Mrs. Adkins was bruised severely about the chest. The little girl was thrown completely out of range of danger and was not injured at all."

Gabe and Miss Cora Carmichael was solemnized this morning at 9 o'clock at the parsonage of the Walnut Street Presbyterian church in the presence of a few intimate friends and relatives. The ceremony was performed by Re. G. N. Luccock, after which the bride and groom received congratulations and were driven to the station to take the train for their future home, No. 537 Virginia Avenue, Indianapolis. Both Mr. and Mrs. Gabe are well known in Bloomington, the bride being an accomplished musician and very popular among all her acquaintances. The groom is a graduate of Indiana University and also of the Medical College of Cincinnati, O., where he took one of the honors. He located in Indianapolis soon after his graduation less than a year ago, and has already established himself well in the profession. The best wishes of a host of friends follow the couple to their new home. Constance T.     3. I believe this was in reference to Hunter School, which was built in 1931. Alfred Grindle was architect for both Elm Heights School and Hunter School. There are about 160 new cases on the civil docket in addition to 50 or more old ones, and there is also a large criminal docket. There are about 40 cases filed against the Bloomington Water Works company in the way of liens, damages, &c. The full five weeks time will be required for the disposal of the work.

Summer Collins, superintendent of the Monon, says that some of the passenger trains on that road last month earned $4 per mile run, and he challenges any line running into Chicago to make a more favorable earning exhibit than have some of the Monon trains.

F. Adams, jr., and is now visiting in the city: "Rev. W. A. Shanklin, son-in-law of Rev. J. E. Brant, has been appointed to the First M. E. church at Seattle, Washington. Seattle is a city of 60,000 inhabitants and this important appointment is a fitting recognition of Rev. Shanklin's standinn [sic] in the church and his well known ability. Mrs. Shanklin will arrive in the city this afternoon to visit with her parents for a couple of days after which she will join her husband at Chicago and they will leave for Seattle." Constance T.     1. [INMONROE] Destitute Man Rescued from Railroad Tracks by Clark McLahlan & Mose St. Clair; Cared for by Trustee Massy & Sent to Poor Asylum

    3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Telephone, October 3, 1893, p. 4. A form in human shape was saved from death last Saturday by Clark McLahlan and Mose St. Clair. He was on the railroad track in the north part of town, and was covered with mud and filth and was removed to a place of shelter, when Trustee Massy was notified. Mr. Massy found the poor wretch bereft of reason, and almost dead from exposure and for want of food. The probability is, from the unconnected story of the man, that he was sent here from Jackson county for our township to care for. He was sent to the poor asylum to be cleaned up and stimulated.     1. [INMONROE] Ed Whetsell Displayed Boots Made in France Over 100 Years Ago in Window of Shoe Store; Boots Brought to Bloomington by J. B. Strong

    3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Telephone, October 3, 1893, p. 4. Ed Whetsell has in his show window three boots that were made in France over a century ago showing the style of foot-wear in those days. The boots were brought over from Scotland about 30 years ago, by a tramp shoemaker, who left them in possession of a shoemaker in Indianapolis, in whose possession they have been until brought to Bloomington by J. B. Strong. The boots have been on exhibition at the State fair. Constance T.
