The team is kept just back of the engine, and the doors are so arranged that when the alarm is given the doors open, and the horses, where properly trained will walk to their place. The harness will also be fixed above so as to fall on the backs of the horses, and a few snaps will make all ready to go to the fire. Constance T. In the morning a basket filled with clothes was placed on a stove in which there had been no fire. At the same time the girl lit some paper that was inside the stove, then left the room. There was more paper in the stove than was supposed and this fired the basket. In the meantime Mrs. R. J. Aley, who lives just north, gave the alarm and by prompt action the house was not damaged. Paoli (IN) Republic, January 20, 1915, p. 1. The members of the Indiana Flood Commission appointed by Gov. Ralston last spring to make investigation of conditions following the disastrous floods of March 1913, have made their report and estimate the loss in Indiana from that flood at $25,000,000. The loss on account of county highways and bridges is estimated at $3,000,000. The commission will make recommendations to the governor of methods intended to prevent, in a measure at least, losses by future floods.
