She is about 65 years of age and has always been a stout and hard working woman.

    1. [INMONROE] Isaac N. Fleener, Trustee of Marion Township, Died; James A. Riddle Appointed to Fill Vacancy

    3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Courier, March 7, 1899, p. 1. Isaac N. Fleener Dead. Isaac N. Fleener died at his home eight miles northeast of the city after an illness of pneumonia of but two weeks duration. Mr. Fleener was the trustee of Marion township and a sterling democrat. In his official capacity and as a citizen he was highly esteemed by his many friends. A wife and family mourn his death. The funeral occurred yesterday at noon from the late residence and the remains were interred in the cemetery at Bean Blossom. James A. Riddle was yesterday appointed trustee to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr. Fleener. The appointment was made by Auditor Matthews. Constance T.     3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Courier, March 3, 1899, p. 8. Damage Suit Against W. U. T. The Henley Stone Co., composed of Henry Henley, George W. Henley and Joseph E. Henley, have filed suit in the circuit court for $1000 against the Western Union Telegraph Co. The complaint states that Henley Stone Co. filed a message in the office at Bloomington, February 18, to V. N. May, South Bend, as follows: "Is stone work on building finished? Wire, answer today." Signed, Henley Stone Co. Complaint further states that 41 cents was paid for the transmission of the message, and then alleges that it was never received at all. Further that V. N. May lived within one fourth of a mile of the telegraph office in Terre Haute. Henley & Wilson, attorneys. Constance T. Matthew Burk, aged 81, who resides about six miles east of the city, was given a birthday surprise Wednesday. About 60 friends were present to enjoy the occasion, and a big dinner. Mr. Burk is very hale and hearty considering his extreme age and looks as though he would live to see birthdays yet to come. He was born in Ireland, and came to the United States when a boy. William Burk aged 78, a brother, was present at the anniversary. Constance T. Henry Rawitsch, who owns an interest in the east side haberdasher store, with Edward Hill, and who is well known here, was married at Richmond Wednesday night. A Richmond dispatch says: "Mr. Henry Rawitsch, a young business man of Chicago, was married this evening to Miss Meta Fox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Fox. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's parents, Rabbi Felix Norton, of Chicago, officiated. A wedding breakfast was served and later Mr. and Mrs. Rawtisch left for Chicago to take up their residence on Champlain avenue." Constance T. A long distance telephone message from Ellettsville to the World-Courier last night places the losses in the Ellettsville fire as follows: W. C. Draper's lost on building, $12000. Insurance $1000. Lee Malicoat's loss on hardware $2400. Insurance $1400. Joseph Freeman's loss on undertaking goods and furniture $1000, insured. Mr. Malicoat's loss was the greatest as he saved only a few stoves. It is more than likely the building will be rebuilt. The firms have already rented other rooms and expect to open out for business in a few days. It is the general supposition that the fire which started on the stairway, was of incendiary origin. Constance T. Tabor, in the north part of the county, reached his 104th birthday last week. Mr. Hedges came from Indianapolis. His wife is in her 80th year, and both are hale and hearty old people. Mr. Hedges was born in 1795. He was 17 years old at the breaking out of the war with England in 1812. Monroe county can boast of having one man who has voted ever since 1816

Mike Guthrie, night operator at Mears Junction, has resigned his position and left yesterday for Salt Lake City where he has been tendered a position in the office of the Rio Grand Western road.     3. Bloomington (Monroe County, Indiana) Telephone, October 31, 1893, p. 4. Roy, the little boy of Mrs. Buckley, the milliner, met with a serious accident. He was out in the street playing when Henry Rogers, a son of William A. Rogers, accidentally run onto him with a horse and buggy. Two bones in the boy's hand were broken. Dr. Joe Rogers was called and carefully dressed the wound, and no permanent injury is feared.
