"Kecksville," "Keck's Church," and "Burns City" are essentially the same community, though the former two were not precisely at the same location as what is now known as Burns City. As far as I know, the original "Keck's Church" was a bit north of the present-day Burns City, perhaps a fraction of a mile, perhaps a bit more. Burns City is midway down the western edge of the Crane Naval Weapons Center, and just outside the boundary. In an 1876 Atlas and on an 1854 map, Kecksville is shown at the bottom of grid square 32 in the extreme southwest corner of McCameron Twp. near where the boundary between Daviess and Martin Co. runs east/west. On my 1999 Rand-McNally atlas, Burns City seems to share the same location, but the grid squares are not shown. The location is about 6 miles as the crow flies east southeast of Odon. John Ragle
