Most of them descended from James Cannon b. 1755 in the 96th District of South Carolina. James fought in the Revolutionary War. After the war he went to Montgomery County, North Carolina to visit family. While there he married Jemima Nichols. In about 1790 they moved to Lee County, Virginia where they resided about 20 years. They then moved to the Indiana Territory into the district now forming Daviess County. The Cannon's lived in and along Daviess and Martin County Indiana.
