His father was William Owens who married Rosetta Funkhauser were both from Indiana. William was born in 1860. From what I can figure out William’s father was James Owens who married Elizabeth “Betsy” Baker October 8, 1851 in Martin County, Indiana. They left that county in 1855 for Iowa, then Nebraska and then to Phillips County, Colorado. I am searching for any other members of the Owens family or any ties to them. Frank Manning Vernon, CT

I found one in Lawrence Co. (Our adjoining co.) and I think it may be the one your are searching for. Betsy Baker is in my husband's family. I have her parents and grandparents for you. 1850 census - Baaker Twp. Martin Co. IN # 98 Robert Baker, 43, VA Jane, 42, KY Betsy, 19, IN Jacob, 17, IN Elisha, 15, IN Alfred, 13, IN Peter, 11, IN Russell, 9, IN Nancy, 7, IN Sarah E. 4, IN Nelly C. 3, IN Benjamin, 1, IN Robert Baker & Jane Waggoner were married in Lawrence Co. IN 10 Dec 1830. Old Salem Cemetery - Baker Twp. Now located on Naval Weapons Support Center, Crane, IN Jane Baker, wife of Robert Baker. Born: 17 Sept 1809 - Died: 29 Sept 1873. Robert does not have a tombstone. Robert Baker was the son of Nicholas Baker & Lucy Lampkin. Nicholas was a Revolutionary Soldier from Culpeper Co. VA. He died in Lawrence Co. IN. 1834. He left a will and named Robert & his other children. I have loaned my Baker folder to my husband's neice. When I get it back will give you more details on Nicholas & his family. This is what I found on a James Owens. Perry Twp. Lawrence Co. IN. 1850 census. # 1838 Joseph Owens, 60, VA Sarah, 55, KY William, 32, KY James, 26, IN Samuel, 19, IN Rebecca, 17, IN. There is no James Owens in Martin Co., in 1850 census. There are several in Lawrence Co., but I really need an age if you have it.
