    1. Re: Arvin family
    2. Jody, I just had over 1000 baptisms posted for St John's Catholic Church in Loogootee, Martin Co on the GenExchange site. There are Arvins there. To find them go to: http://www.genexchange.com/in/martin/index.cfm and click on baptisms, then click on A...it will call up all the A's. Unfortunately, all that was available to me was the year and the name of the person baptized, no parents' names or dates of birth. But this will help you find leads. Perhaps if you identify which Arvins and the time frame--someone can do lookups for you. Shirley

    2. Hi Kate, I was able to open the following: Daviess Co--deaths/obits, burials/cemeteries, some births Martin Co--baptisms, deaths/obits, can't remember others 999 baptisms from 1857 to 1875 for St John's, Loogootee were uploaded recently from the template I submitted. There is another template of more than 500 waiting to be uploaded; and approximately 500 high school graduates of St John's also on template waiting to be uploaded, along with the 1870 census for Martin Co. I adopted both sites in December and have urged people to add their own personal ancestral raw data online, so that they, too can benefit. Contact me personally if you need help finding something! Thanks for your interest and patience. Shirley

    1. Update
    2. Hi everyone, Just wanted to update you on the latest improvements with GenExchange. The GenExchange sites for Daviess and Martin Co (along with all others) are currently being transferred to a new server, so you may find that you can access info only on births, deaths/obits, bios and one or two other files. You can still enter your own family data in the appropriate category. Please capitalize surnames and follow format given, is all we ask. If you make a mistake and need a correction, let me know. We welcome your raw data input, it might help you find your cousins, smile! Remember surnames were often misspelled so check variations to see what record says. ex: SUMMERS -SOMERS, BOWLING-BOLLING, SPALDING-SPAULDING, O'BRIEN-O'BRIAN-O'BRYANT-BRYANT, etc. To reach the GenExchange sites-- http://www.genexchange.com/in/martin/index.cfm Martin Co http://www.genexchange.com/in/daviess/index.cfm Daviess Co Thanks! 3. Does anyone know who or what The Davidson County Rangers were. Does anyone know who and what Lieut Walkers Rangers were. Both are shown as for The territory South of The Ohio, so Iassume they were a band of Peace keepers or Indian Fighters due the time period. I am seeking information on a George NUTTERFIELD who signed on as a private in 1792. Where were they formed? Where did they recruit. I do know that George settled in Shelby Co, Ky as early as 1790. I am seeking any information. George is shown on FTM records as Revolutionary War 1780-1789, but, the only record I have, so far is with the 2 above units. I asume that the Davidson County referred is Davidson County Tn, as I dont know of another at that time. Or, it could have been the home of Lt Walker. I have tried Ky archives and Nashville archives, But, my experience is very Limited on records like these, so I probably didnt do it right.I have been seeking info on George for about 30 years, so, naturally, I would be thrilled and appreciative for any info.George is also shown as George NUTTERFEE/NUTTER, on various records, and married Nancy Stepp McWilliams June 1804 in Shelby Co Ky. 3. With the holidays behind us and New Years Resolutions in the forefront I am taking this opportunity to encourage each of you to consider transcribing a Census for the very worthwhile USGENWEB Census Project. This Project is a non Profit group of volunteers dedicated to providing FREE Transcribed Census Records on the Internet at the USGENWEB Census Project page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgw/census/states.htm While I know the cost of a CD. (about $20.00) is not always possible for everyone. There are other ways of helping such as Proof Reading. Please consider helping us in the year just starting. 2. Sandra
    3. Hello, I am the new State Coordinator for the Indiana Census Project and would like to urge each of you to consider transcribing a Census. I along with about a million other Genealogists would Thank you. Our Project was started by volunteers of The USGenWeb Project, to transcribe all of the US Federal Census' and upload them to the Internet where they will be available in a searchable archive for all, for FREE. We provide our volunteer transcribers with either a database Program, for census years 1850 and 1860, that has been written exclusively for this Project, or a spreadsheet template for all other years. Our programmer is writing updates that will eventually include all other years. For MAC users we have a Coordinator who specializes in MAC's and she will get you the templates you need. At this time we are unable to provide our transcribers with a copy of the census for the county they wish to transcribe. Each of you must obtain your own copy of the census you sign up for. You will be volunteering your time to transcribe and you will be volunteering the acquisition of the census information. This information can be acquired on CD or in book form. Please consider helping this worthwhile project.
