    3. Posted on: Martin Co. In Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/In/Martin/75 Surname: Barker, Bingham, Burton, Carder, Clark, Kelley, Kerns, Manning, Pittman, Rhodes, Roush, Runyon, VanDeventer, Wilkin ------------------------- Searching for information on Lanson/Alanson Manning, father of Harvey Manning b.1846 in Martin Co., Indiana. According to Harvey's death certificate, his parents were LANSON MANNING and Elizabeth Clark. I do know that my gggrandpa, Harvey Manning (b. 1846), was living in the household of Harvey & Delilah Manning (grandparents ?) in the 1850 Columbia Twp., Martin Co., IN census however, his siblings were living in the household of Jeremiah & Mary J. Manning (Lanson's brother ?) in Halbert Twp., along with Eliza (Lanson's wife ?). Evidently, Lanson Manning died between 1846 & 1850. Then, in the 1860 Mitcheltree Twp., Martin Co., IN census, gggrandpa Harvey and his siblings were all living in the household of Eli & Eliza A. Etchison (same Eliza from Jeremiah's household in 1850 ?). I've checked with Historical & Genealogical societies in Martin Co., IN and it's their belief that Lanson/Alanson Manning was the son of Harvey & Delilah Manning and brother to Jeremiah, Thomas and Leonard Manning. Notes: There are no Martin Co., IN census, land or probate records listing Lanson or Alanson Manning. There is a marriage record for an Alanson Manning (misspelled as Alancen Maning) to Jane Henry on 11-3-1836 in Martin Co., IN however, no marriage record in Martin Co. for Alanson/Alanson Manning & Elizabeth Clark. There's also a marriage record for Eli Etchison to Eliza A. Manning on 10-12-1851 in Martin Co., IN. Harvey Manning (husband of Delilah) was supposidly born in 1792, lived in PA & KY and resided in Martin Co., Indiana from Jan. 1819 until his death in 1855. There IS a land record, dated Jan. 15, 1819 for Harvey Manning, in Martin Co., IN and he appears in Martin Co., census records for 1820 thru 1850. Jeremiah & Mary J.(a.k.a. Minerva Jane Walker) Manning evidently divorced before 1855 because he married 3 more times between 1855 & 1868, all in Martin Co., IN. If anyone can provide ANY information on this Manning family, please email me at Midnite1@sprintmail.com Thank you for your time.

    3. Posted on: Martin Co. In Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/In/Martin/68 Surname: BARR, COLES, HUFF, PIERSON, SHUPE ------------------------- I am the grgr grandson of Martin Van Buren Huff (b. 1838, Ohio) and Abigail {--} Huff (born 1840, Ohio), who were the parents of: Bejamin B., James D. (1859), Sarah M?, Mary L., Charles W.E.E., and John. I belibe Martin V. Huff served in the War of the Rebellion. The name Anthia Barr comes to mind in reference to Martin V. Huff. My great grandfather, James D. Huff, married Emma Temperance Coles. Emma was the daughter of Levi Coles and Hannah Shupe and the granddaughter of James Coles (b. 28 Nov. 1805) and Mary Pierson (b. 23 July 1805). I suspect that the Martin Huff family is related to two other Huff families in a nearby township: Joseph Huff (b. in Ohio in 1837) with wife? Margaret J. {--} Huff (b. 1847 in Indiana), with children John, Sarah E., James, and Barbara A. And the household of James D. Huff (b. in Ohio in 1821) with Joanna Huff (born in Ireland in 1848), along with apparent children of James D: Hannah (1853), Barnard (1855), Hester A. (1856), John (1859), Abe Lincoln (1861), Sarah D. (1864), and James M (1868). I am looking to make contact with anyone researching these lines. I am looking for all relatives, siblings, ancestors of anyone mentioned. Please reply via this forum to advise that an e-mail has been sent to me as my e-mail service has been unreliable. Thank you.

    3. Thanks to Chris, Gilbert, Annette and others for helping to identify Cook's Park found in an old photo I have. Chris, the post card of the "Casino at Cooks Park" is the same buliding in my photo except that the lights are not apparent. I suppose what I thought was a lake was actually Pegion Creek. Now I need to indentify the young lady in the photo. Her name is written as Ethel Traylor and information on the back of the photo says she is 17 and it is dated as 1918. My family line of Traylors are from around Evansville and Indianapolis. No one in my family can identify who Ethel Traylor is or how she fits into our line. Some of my folks are in their 90s. I am sending this note to all the Indiana lists that I subscribe to in an attempt to find a connection. If you receive more then one copy of this communique please disregard all except one. Again, thanks to all those that have helped, Paul Traylor Milwaukee Wisconsin ptraylor@gateway.net
