I have a lot of Catholic relatives that are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery on the Southside, and a lot of non-Catholic relatives buried at Floral Park on the Westside. Floral Park was established in 1919. Does anyone know where most of the non-Catholic people were buried before 1919? JoAnn, Indpls
Hi Jo Ann: Crown Hill Cemetery on East 38th Street was formed ca 1865. The oldest known cemetery started out ca 1818 and was known as City Cemetery and evolved into Greenlawn Cemetery. They stopped burying there ca 1919 and was closed and moved by the 1930's. Crown Hill Cemetery has their burials online at the following URL: http://www.crownhill.org/cgi-bin/db_search.cgi There was also the Mount Jackson Cemetery that was formed ca 1890 or before. They are located next door to Floral Park at the corner of Tibbs Ave and Cossell Rd. Their burials are listed at the following URL: http://www.waynefire.org/trustee/cemetery/dbase.htm Nan Nancy Lee White County Coordinator for Marion and Ohio Counties INGenExchange and County Coordinator for Hardin and Union Counties OHGenExchange http://www.genexchange.org/county.php?state=in&county=marion http://www.genexchange.org/county.php?state=in&county=ohio http://www.genexchange.org/county.php?state=oh&county=hardin http://www.genexchange.org/county.php?state=oh&county=union Volunteers have a warm fuzzy feeling!
