I have a Mary McGUIRE FARRELL, who was born in County Tyrone, Ireland , came to the states as a teen and lived and died in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born, according to her death certif., 3-20-1873 and died April 10, 1930. I have her obit, a pic of her burial marker, and her death certif. She was listed as a widow on the death certificate. Her parents are listed as Patrick and Mary BREEN McGUIRE. I can find no record on Ancestry of her marriage to Mr. FARRELL. I do not even know his first name. I joined the FARRELL rootsweb, and posed this question, w/ no response. There is no record of them having any children. I have evidence that part of the BREEN-McGUIRE family lived in Chicago, but most settled in Indianapolis for the duration of their life. On the 1930 Indy. census her 2 sisters, (Nellie and Anna McGUIRE-single all their lives) state they were naturalized in 1896. How do I go about finding info. on him? Cece-----with many thanks
Hi Cece, I don't think I have a death certificate from 1930, but do they say how long the deceased was in the city and or county? Did it say if she was naturalized by 1930? The "widow" stuff....I've recently found a "widow(er)".....he had been divorced for 25 years, but his death certificate said he was a widower (so keep your options open). Can you post the full obit? Did you call the cemetery? Who paid for her plot and buried her? There's no husband there next to her (even if it's an unmarked grave)? Were you able to find her in any U.S. censuses? When she came from Ireland as a teen...did she go straight in Indiana? Where are her parents buried? Just some ideas, maybe some of them might be of use to you. Sincerely, Cheri Mello Torrance, CA
