After years of trying to find my GG Grandfather, Edward Smith, I found out his occupation. He worked for the streetcar of Indianapolis. I found this info on his son's marriage application filled out in 1911. Family lore had it that Edward's wife died of wounds from a streetcar accident. I found from her death certificate she died from colon cancer. I am assuming the family lore was twisted, and that it was Edward who was hit by a streetcar. I would LOVE to confirm this assumption ! Does anyone know of a web site, or any organization that has records of the street car history/employees/accidents in Indy.? I know he died late 1884 or 1885, via his wife's obit in 1931. I don't know where he is buried , nor do I have a marriage date/location. TY so much----------------------Cece
