I apologize to anyone offended by what may have seemed that I was being one sided on the evils of the North compared to the South. That was not my intentions. I copied and pasted what was sent to me and did not really look at what the person sent. I live on the Southside of Indy and I am going to the rededication of the Vansickle cemetery at 11 A.M. Saturday at 11 A.M. If anyone needs a ride...e-mail me...cousin Bob ralloway@earthlink.net
I am willing to pay someone to look up the Naturalization Record of my great grandfather, FREDERICK HENRY MEYERS. He was born in 1830 in Prussia. He emigrated to Indiana sometime between 1840 - 1850. He married MARIE ADELINE (MARY) Unknown about 1855. They were living in Milan, Ripley County, IN by 1870. I appreciate any help I can get. Patricia (MEYERS) Shirley
The result of where to send the records when a funeral home goes out of business is a good question but possibly the Indiana Funeral Home Association would have a solution to this problem if it were known the value of these records. Maybe the word needs to be spread of who would accept the donation of these records. Food for thought and any ideas? Mary K. I was really upset when I discovered the news about this particular funeral home, they handled the funeral for my grandmother. But when I contacted the family (the funeral director had passed away), I found out that they simply didn't know what to do with the records, and she held onto them for several years, and finally disposed of them. It was a tragedy for the researchers here. The Indiana State Library has records from some of the funeral homes who chose to donate their records. I hope this helps some. Have a good one. I ran into the same problem with W. T. Blasengym Funeral Directors in the early 40's who went out of business. In Indiana they were NOT required to do anything with their records, so in many cases all of those records were lost. For: Henry Frank Clendening--Indianapolis It would have been after July of 1927. Thank You, Cece
For one, there is the Big Run Regular Baptist Cemetery, Franklin Twp., Marion Co.,IN. It is quite old. The old church across the street is the site of the local historical society.
Hello, Can anyone tell me what cemeteries are close to or in Acton and where they are located? I am wanting to visit the cemeteries. Thanks, Gina
