    1. U.S. WW2 Enlistment Records.
    2. Ethel
    3. Ancestry.com posted these a week ago on their site. I found 3 family members, but none for 2 others in Marine & Navy. However, I discoverd it was for only Army & no Marine or Navy records. How do I find Ancestry's website for Marine & Navy Enlistments during WW2 ? Thank you very much, Marine45

    1. ELDRIDGE Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" and old photograph of Harry ELDRIDGE which was taken at the Staples Studio in Indianapolis, Indiana. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Harry likely in his teens at the time. Based on limited research I was able to find Harry ELDRIDGE son of E. H. & S. Sallie ELDRIDGE living in Indianapolis, IN during the 1880 census. The census records for the family are as follows: E. H. ELDRIDGE, age 35, b. MA, Lumber Dealer, parents b. in MA S. Sallie ELDRIDGE, wife, age 29, b. PA, Keeping House, parents b. in PA Harry ELDRIDGE, son, age 8, b. IL Willie ELDRIDGE, son, age 7, b. IL Bertha ELDRIDGE, dau, age 5, b. IN Mollie RYAN, servant, age 24, b. OH, parents b. in Ireland I'm hoping to locate someone from Harry's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. RAFERT Family
    2. Joel S. Russell
    3. I'm interested in corresponding with anyone connected to the RAFERT family. As far as I can tell anyone with the surname RAFERT is descended from one of two brothers, William and Henry Rafert. Henry (1800-c1891) came to the U.S and settled in Indianapolis in the 1840s. His older brother William (1797-1886) arrived with his family in 1852. The name in Germany was originally RÖWER, but was Americanized to RAFERT in this country. Other surnames intermarried with the RAFERTs include WILHARM, STEIERBERG, OSTERMEYER, BRANDT, CLAFFEY, QUACK, RUGENSTEIN, WALLIS, and many others. Please email me directly, visit www.rafert.org and/or join or mailing list by sending "subscribe" to rafert-l-request@rootsweb.com (mail mode) or rafert-d-request@rootsweb.com (digest mode). Most of my online information pertains to the William Rafert (1797-1886) line, but I'm very interested in learning more about the Henry Rafert (1800-c1891) line. I'm also interested in corresponding with others who's family came from the village of Meinsen, Schaumburg-Lippe. It appears that several families from that village and the surrounding area came to Indianapolis in the mid-1800s. Thanks! Joel www.rafert.org

    2. Hi Jan, I don't know anything about your Fitchey's. But here is what I did to find my lost ancestors in Indy. 1) Look up your Karl/Carl in city directories until he disappears. He probably died. Then you get an estimated year. 2) Go to http://maps.google.com/. Type in the last address from the city directory. 3) Just after the SEARCH button are 3 small links: Search the Map, Find businesses, Get Directions. Click FIND BUSINESSES. 4) Type in cemetery in the next search field. It will give you cemeteries within a 6-10 mile radius of that address. 5) Start calling the cemeteries to find out if your Karl is there. You can give them a vague year from your city directory search. Good luck! Cheri Mello Torrance, CA
