    3. Charles, I spent last weekend reading Virginia Court Records, etc. etc. etc.--all of which led to revisions to Chapters 6, 7, and 9 of my web page. I discovered that I descend from the Virginia Bennetts on my mother's line. This discovery fired up a new interest in trying to determine whether the Rhode Island Bennetts and the Virginia Bennetts were connected. There was a Samuel Bennett in Virginia, as well as our Samuel Bennett in Rhode Island. I know that the Bennetts came from a great merchant family in London, and I also know that they were Puritan. I have a book called "Suffolk and the Turdors: Politics and Religion in an English County 1500-1600" by Diarmaid MacCulloch (1986--Clarendon Press--Oxford)--a wonderful book! I'm trying to get a copy of it. Right now I have the campus library's only copy. Anyway, Appendix III of that book contains a list of Norfolk and Suffolk JPs dismissed 1485-1603. This list contains some familiar names, all of whom connect with Virginia families. While hunting through this very long list, I found THOMAS BENNETT in Norfolk in 1603. And I am wondering whether he is progenitor of the VA Bennetts as well as the MA Bennetts. The MA Bennetts intermarried with the Rhode Island Inmans; the VA Bennetts tie in with the Spencers through the Andersons and the Bells. What do you think?
