I made one tiny change to Chapter Nine of my website concerning the story of Thomas Spencer. One reader found the source for the story and pointed out that Spencer intervened in an argument between two men. When one of them persisted in pursuing the argument, Spencer hoisted him over the fence. Now, I think I am finally satisfied that these people are all sitting in their proper pews, so I don't think I'll make any more changes. In fact, I've already started researching the Missouri material for Volume II. Volume II will replace Volume I sometime in late December. I hope to find out more about the William Spencer family of Jasper County, Missouri. A Peleg Spencer family also lived there during the same period of time. In fact, Peleg was the first commissioner of Jasper County. But as I recall, they claim descent from Michael Spencer of the 4 brothers and 1 sister. I'm also looking into the Lemasters problem I mentioned in my website: David Lemasters was the first husband of Angeline Penelope Spence, oldest child of Elisha Spence and Jane Bell. Angeline's second husband was Elisha Hamby. I am now beginning to think that Angeline and Elisha Hamby had two children: Milly O. and I don't know about the other child. I also am beginning to think that Angeline and Elisha were murdered by bushwhackers during the Civil War. Two orphaned children went to live with Lazarus Spence and Adeline Elizabeth Bryant during the Civil War. When they fled to Kansas, they took the children with them. And I'm still trying to determine the identity of the John Inman who was killed near Houston, Texas County, MO by Federal Troops during the Civil War. He was described as a notorious bushwhacker. Supposedly, they captured him and he tried to escape. So they shot him. That will keep me busy for a while. Barbara Dr. Barbara Inman Beall, Ph.D, BIBeall@email.msn.com Lancaster-Wormiston Press P.O.
