While going through the old book that I've been talking about--"The Slicker War"--a few things caught my attention: 1. Bellefonte, AL: It seems to me that John Spencer, the first sheriff of Maury County settled either there or near there. The Turk family of the Slicker War, had close connections there. 2. Monroe County, TN: The Turks owned 300 acres of land in Monroe County. My 4th g. grandfather (Thomas Hood--whose granddaughter, Minerva Caroline, married William David Spence in Davidson County, TN), died in Monroe County, TN during the period of time when the Turks lived there. 3. Graham: A name strongly allied with some Southern Inman families. 4. Bunch: Bunches of Bunches all over the place and closely allied with the Turks. 5. Washington County, Virginia: the James Spencer family resided in Washington County. 6. Augusta County, VA (from where Turk records originate)--Bunch, Spencer families in that area. There is also a Spence family of record in that area at the time when the Turks lived there. These Turks had a lot of power. Their family histories may hold a lot of secrets. For more information, it's all on the Coffman list.
