As most of you know, I am teaching three classes this summer. Yesterday, while two of my research classes probed around the campus library, searching for research materials, I did some probing of my own: I spent some time "fetching Fitches" and the "Fitch" I "fetched" furrowed through the fog and fastened onto a link I have been seeking. YES! I FINALLY FOUND THAT NEW ENGLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA CONNECTION I HAVE BEEN DRIVING EVERYONE CRAZY WITH!!! (I haven't been this excited since I discovered that David Spence of Somerset, MD (1639-1679) was ancestor of the Jasper County, MO Spence families!) I'm not finished, but I know where I am going with this Spencer thing. The rest should fall into place nicely. I will go into better detail after additional Fitches have been "fetched", Bunches have been "bundled", Inmans have been "itched", Spences and Spencers have been "spangled" and Skillerns have been "scoured." (That would make a book in itself). Meanwhile, keep searching and posting.
