I am searching for any information on Isaiah Inman born about 1792 in New York. He married Charlotte Inman. A son Erastus was born in 1817. Isaiah may have been married before Charlotte. Isaiah and Charlotte moved to Harrison County, IN about 1820. There they had three children: Jesse Baker, Charlotte, and Laura Martha de Sarah. Isaiah and Charlotte lived in Harrison County the rest of their lives. I am looking for Isaiah's siblings, mother, and father. Thank you. Sharon http://members.aol.com/si22
The website is working. In order to enjoy it, go to http://twigs-of-inman-spence.rootsweb.com The only thing I left out was the e-mail address on the front page. I'll deal with that later, but I knew that some of you were anxious to see it. Now--back to grading. Barbara
I was just exploring my new website and some of the links need adjusting. They have a C:/ whatever in them. I have to straighten those out before it will work properly. However, I have tons to papers to work on and grade before tomorrow. Will save that for tomorrow evening. Barbara
Here it is, folks... http://twigs-of-inman-spence.rootsweb.com The only thing that isn't working is the e-mail address on the front page. I will have to fool around with that when I have a moment. The rest of it works. This is Vol. I Happy reading. Barbara
If I can figure out all the lingo in my instruction book and all the lingo sheets I have received from rootsweb--"Twigs of Inman & Spence" is being loaded onto the server today. I printed out all the documents last night. Volume One is called "When Spence Met Spencer: The Story of Elisha Spence (1776-1835) and Susannah Spencer (1785-1810)". It is divided into three parts. Part One: Elisha Spence (which is in turn subdivided into three sections); Part Two: Susannah Spencer (which is subdivided into two sections); Part Three: When Two Main Lines Converge. The first section of this part focuses on related families: Jones, Perry, Hunter, Jones, Inman, Graham, Cathey, Hood, Haskins, Bell and Bunch. The second section focuses specifically on the children of Elisha Spence and Susannah Spencer and Elisha Spence and Jane Bell. Part three focuses on the move to Tennessee. Then Volume I ends. (After printing all of it out last night, I find that I have 134 pages. I feel as though I have written another dissertation). But I think that those of you who are interested in these people may find some neat stuff!!! Happy printing!!! Volume I is going to stay on the website until sometime in December. About mid-to-late December, I will remove it and replace it with Volume II. Volume II will focus on the Spences in Missouri and the impact of the Civil War on these people. Volume III (Spring 2000) will focus on the descendants of Elisha Spence and Susannah Spencer through the present. Volume IV (Summer 2000) will focus on some of my grandfather's stories and "Tales from Type". After Volume IV is removed from the website at the end of summer 2000, these four volumes will be combined into a book: "From Scotland to Missouri: The Ancestors and Descendants of the Jasper County, Missouri Spence Families. You all get it free while it's on the website. Now, I have to figure out how to load the first volume on the web. Will get back with you--hopefully--later today and will tell you how to access it. A very exhausted.... Barbara
Several of these got lost in my mail box and I did not notice that they were here till today. I just finished the final proofing of "Twigs of Inman & Spence". It is now ready to load onto the server!!! (I can't believe it. I've been dreaming about this thing for so long--nightmares!!!) Of course, I am not going to load it onto the server this afternoon because first of all, I need to figure out what I am doing. So I have to read all the friendly little messages Rootsweb has been sending me prior to loading. And I have to download "something-or-another" to make it work. School starts tomorrow, and I am down there most of the day. I do get home fairly early on Tuesday, so I'll try to load it onto the server then. At any rate--the end is in sight. I will let all of you know when it is really ready. Barbara
I am returned from that glorious state of vacation. And lo and behold there is a problem. If you have been trying to send email but it is being returned, that problem is now corrected. I had let my storage area on my local server fill up and it could no longer accept any new mail. My apologies. On this long trip through OK and MO, Mom and I stopped in twelve cemeteries and took photos of the headstones. We also made it to several genealogy libraries and found lots of notes that I have to sort through and add to the site. I will be adding the headstone photos, cemetery maps and driving maps and other notes as soon as I can get to them. It was a very hot and tiring trip but we got a lot of data. Of you have something that you have been trying to send, please resend it and I will get to it right away. Thanks to all. One of the questions often asked on genealogy email lists is "Where an I find that book?". Because of this, I am developing a site where societies and individuals can list publications for sale as well as links to the society's web site. GeneaSearch.com will provide a central point for users to look for books they want to purchase. Users are invited to add their favorite links to help other researchers, as well as to add their own sites. The goal is to make an interactive resource for assisting in online and offline research. I would like to invite you to list your society on our list of societies and to list any publications and any links you would care to add. You can add them directly on the GeneaSearch.com site. The address is: http://www.geneasearch.com By the way, GeneaSearch is genealogy + research. Thanks, Donna
Some of you may have wondered whether I was beamed up by a space ship. Nope. I've been busy thumping out my text for "Twigs of Inman & Spence". Yesterday, I was involved in a car accident--passenger in a car rear-ended by a Rocky Mountain sight-seer--and my neck hurts! I am suffering from stretched muscles--nothing is out of place, thank goodness. However, I finished the text for that website this afternoon. I have to insert the photographs, proof it and load it onto Rootsweb--and, hopefully, all of that will be finished by Sunday. I have an all-day seminar tomorrow, an orientation on Friday, and by hook or by crook--that thing is going to be up and running by Sunday night. Will let you know when it is available. I think that you will be pleased with some of my discoveries. As for my car--well, thanks to a commercial hitch on the back of it, the trunk didn't end up in the front seat. It's a 1993 Cadillac, and it didn't have a mark on it before or a dent in it before our jaunt to Estes Park yesterday. Now the back is slammed in. We need to start driving tanks, or cover our vehicles with front, back and side bars to protect them. As for my neck--I will recover. My husband's is worse than mine. He has something out and had a mild concusion. I was just bruised and contused--and just before the beginning of school! Anyway, I haven't died, and I will be "back in the saddle" soon. Barbara

Well, my vacation was delayed but gone we are. We leave Wednesday for Dallas and then on to KC. We are going to stop in McAlester, OK to visit a few cemeteries. It has been quiet for the past few weeks so I have spent time adding tools and forms to the site. On the Tools Page, you will find all kinds of new sites designed to help you in your genealogical research. I have added calendars and calendar conversion programs. I'll add a Soundex Converter tonight. Several sites with ready made maps were added. I even found two sites that will give you satellite photos. One got so close I could pick out my house. On the Forms page I have added MS Word formatted forms (used to be only WordPerfect) and screen shots. If you didn't know what the forms were for before, you can now click on the screen shot and see what it will look like when you print it on your computer. Also, I have added graphical forms for the Census Forms. Before, all I had was a one form for all years. These new forms can be printed from your browser or downloaded and printed with a graphics program. A new database was uploaded this afternoon and will be the last one till the end of the month. If you have data to submit, go ahead and send it and I will get to it when I get back. I hope everyone remembers the family reunion in AR on Sep. 5. Check Page 2 for details. Also on Page 2 is a collection of photos from the OH reunion. There will be more in a couple of weeks. Keep looking. I'll write when I get back. -------- Original Message -------- From: LAMBSREWES@aol.com Subject: Re: Inmans To: jim76501@vvm.com Hi Jim, Yes we have spoken before and I am pleased to say that I will have more info to give you soon. I contacted Alvin Amos' decendants in Lodi, CA in a most interesting way. >>>>I requested the City of Lodi site to add a guest book for people doing geneology seaches and gave them my message should they add a guest book.<<<< The site administrator read my message and sent it on to James Inman of the Lodi Fire Dept. wondering if we were related. It turns out we are. He and his family will be providing me with more names soon. I'll keep you posted. Annette
I just discovered the Roe connection. Actually, I had the information for over a year--something I acquired while at the Maryland State Archives. However, I became involved with a thousand different things and forgot it, until I rediscovered the name while filing research materials in my huge notebook collection. After a trip to the Denver Public Library, I was able to make the connection. The name is spelled two different ways. The "Roe" spelling pertains to the English branch of the family. One branch of "Roes" went to Scotland and then to Ireland, and they spell the name "Rowe". The Roes settled in Jamestown, York County, and from there went to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Rowes eventually left Ireland and settled in Westmoreland, VA (along with the Roes, Monroes, Spences, Spencers, etc.). The Roes intermarried with my Spence line in Virginia before heading for the Eastern Shore. One branch went to Talbot County, Maryland, thence to Cecil County, and then moved down to Virginia and NC. Wherever I have found my Inmans, Spences and Spencers, I am now finding the Roes. Several branches of the Spence family moved to Texas along with a branch or two of the Inmans. That could explain your Roe connection. Two additional families weave in and out of all these lines: Bunch and Lee or Lea. There was an enormous Lea family in Caswell, Anson, Rowan, etc. counties of Western NC--they are turning out to be cousins of all of these people. I also discovered that the ancestors of my 3rd great uncle (James H. Bunch)--the Confederate guerilla fighter who married into my Missouri Spence line, were Spencers!!!! Big Jim was a direct descendant of Thomas Spencer of Badby and Isobel Lincoln!!!! The Bunches were in Louisa County, Virginia with my Spencers. A Bunch Roe appears of record in Westmoreland, Virginia. So this whole thing is beginning to travel around in one big circle. I notice that you spell your name "Inmon". I have found that spelling in North Carolina and in South Carolina. A number of these families fled to Texas after the Civil War because of their loyalties to the South. Some of them remained in Texas; some of them relocated to Arkansas. And some of them headed West. Just yesterday I was reading about a number of them who resettled in what is today Conejos County, Colorado. (This is interesting: I live in Denver, but have done little research in this state. It appears that I will now start researching "in my back yard!!!" -----Original Message----- From: Bill Inmon <binmon@erols.com> To: Barbara Beall <bibeall@email.msn.com> Date: Friday, August 06, 1999 8:17 PM Subject: Re: From the Listowner: In Forward Gear >HI Barbara: > >I've never noticed your posting anything about the Roe family until now... >my grandmother's sister (Myrtle Tyler) married a George Washington Roe, >about 1910... "Twigs of Inman & Spence" is going to be located at Rootsweb. I decided to park it there since the Inman and Spence, etc. discussion lists are there and I understand that they are compatible with Adobe Pagemill. The account is in the process of being established. This puts me under the gun to get this thing up and running. Each day that I work on it, I discover more information. It has my head spinning with all the things I've discovered this past week. I have to admit that my Grandfather Spence's Spence/Spencer/Inman/Hood/Roe/Pattison/Taliaferro/ etc. line is my favorite to research so far. The people I have uncovered were all so colorful, they would certainly keep Hollywood busy for a long time! (Some of them already have!!!!) Anyway, now that I know where the thing is going to be parked, I will be busy writing this next week and as soon as it is available, I will let you know. Barbara
