I have been so busy this week, I wasn't able to access my msn email until today. There were over 80 messages waiting for me, most of them coming from the various Rootsweb lists. Soooo, since I am on this address every day, I have unsubscribe my msn address from the lists. I have decided to use that for personal messages. I will be reading and responding to the lists from here. Let's get some discussion going. These lists have been awfully quiet lately! And it seems to be a Netscape thing because I don't have those problems with Explorer. I asked a lab technician about it yesterday. He told me to shut down the computer and start it up again. That fixed the problem temporarily. Then he told me that there was so much animation on the different websites now that Netscape has a tendency to stall when overwhelmed. Sooo, I switched to Explorer and stayed there the rest of the day. (On behalf of Bill Gates.....) That Carmack name caught my attention. Years ago, my husband lived in Plattsburg, Missouri (he was around ten or eleven years old, I think). We were married in 1964 and in 1965, we moved to Parkville, Missouri where he finished his undergraduate work at Park College. One weekend, he decided to drive up to Plattsburg, so I tagged along with him. He found a Mr. and Mrs. Carmack (who were then in their 90s) whom he remembered from his childhood. Since so many Kentucky people relocated to various parts of Missouri, there may have been some sort of connection between these Missouri Carmacks and yours. Unfortunately, I do not recall their first names. I just barely remember what they looked like and the fact that I was surprised that they were still driving! One reason why I decided to call the current edition of "Wyverns 'n Harts" the summer edition instead of the spring is because I plan to add more pages to the existing volume. I will be doing this as I have time (when I'm not grading, etc.). I have also added page counters to the pages that have already been loaded. There is a message board on the home page where you can leave messages, and I hope that all of you will do so. And, I have another section to start working on for the online Rootsweb "Twigs"; hopefully, I will have that available during my break between semesters in May. Greetings, everyone. Just wanted to take a minute to remind you that summer is fast approaching. I have already been contacted by one family member letting me know about a family reunion. So it is time to start posting the dates for the several reunions throughout the country. I am asking that when you find out about an Inman family reunion you send me the details. I will post them on Page 2 for all to see. The main page has undergone a big change. The site counter was so slow that the loading process was taking minutes rather than seconds. It is gone and a new counter is in place on all pages. If you find one of the old text counters please let me know so I can get rid of the thing. The new counter is very fast and loading is dramatically improved. Also, I have changed the front page to include a mini site map on the left side as your navigation tool. I kept getting email where people aksed me about items that were online. So I figured they couldn't find what they were looking for. This is an attempt to help everyone know what is available and where it is. It was at first set up as a Java applet. That, too, was taking too long to load. So I just copied the format into standard web language. It takes up a lot of length but only takes a second to load. In my searching the web I see many more Inmans are setting up their own web sites. Please don't forget to keep me updated on your finds. I am looking for people to help with the research and/or data processing of this web site. There is so much new data coming online that I am having a hard time keeping abreast of it all. I would like to find people to take on a single state, or two, and search the web looking for records, articles and data for that state. Then they could send me that data in text files so that it could processed for the web site. Any help would be appreciated. Don't forget the search engine. I have set up a search engine to search the whole web site or just certain directories. If you want to search for someone in the census records, there is the main search button on the search page AND a button to search just the census records. There is also a search button on the main census page. You can do your search from the census page. The separate search buttons are available for the abstracts, articles, cemeteries, census, vital records, sketches and wills pages. If there is an area of the family history that you would like to see addressed, please let me know. I have tried to cover every area that will give definite and positive leads in our family search. If you have any ideas, drop me a line. Please be sure to let me know if you have changed servers so I can update your email address. Thanks. All messages posted to the Inman and Spence Gen-Connect boards will now appear on these respective lists. I finally got into the Boards last night and changed the codes. These lists have been awfully quiet lately. Let's get some discussion going. Plus--look for a new newsletter website I am in the process of creating: "Wyverns 'n Harts". I will let you know as soon as it is available. (I suffer from a case of webitis now--can't stop creating the websites). Also--if you haven't looked at the latest version of the "Twigs" homepage, you will find some changes (hopefully the last). I think that I am finally satisfied.
