    3. Just got back from the local library where I finished reading microfilm of the Carthage People's Press, Carthage, Missouri for 1872 & 1873. I don't know how I knew this, but I was right. My hunch paid off. There WAS a terrible flood in that area in May and June of 1872. My second great grandfather, William David Spence, received word of his mother's death on July 18, 1872. His sister Milly Catherine Spence Bunch sent him a letter about her death, and the letter was waiting at the Carthage Post Office July 18. (Elizabeth probably died July 15 or 16). The Bunches returned her body to Jasper County, Missouri for burial with her husband Samuel Spence. However, She could not be buried in Moss Springs due to the high water. She was buried in that large unidentified grave I found in Center Cemeter this past May while we were visiting there. When the ground dried out in Moss Springs, Samuel, Daniel and Mary Polly Pewitt were also interred in Center with Elizabeth. I don't know whether the Joneses (Lewis Jones and Milly Catherine Spence Jones) are in Center or in Moss Springs. Milly Catherine Spence Jones died in 1876; her husband died in 1846 or 1847. As I said earlier, that plot is large enough for six graves. But only four may be buried there. Barbara

    3. I don't recognize any of them. I had some Inmans in New York, but they moved to IL and from there, to IA. My mother's Inmans came from NC. Perhaps the Inman Compendium would have some of your family. Meanwhile, I will forward your message to the Inman Discussion List at Rootsweb. If anyone has information on your family, I invite them to get in touch with you. 1. Directions for the Piqua Inman Reunion
    2. Gil & Edie Rodriguez
    3. Hello Inman cousins and researchers: Here are the directions to the Fountain Park Dining Hall. The reunion is being held Saturday, July 10th from 10 am to 4 pm. It is free. ALL Inman's and those related or interested are invited. If you have any questions, email my cousin Brenda at BCMcCray@aol.com, as I am leaving in the morning for Ohio! >From I75 North, take the E. Ash Street Exit in Piqua. Turn left off the exit onto E. Ash Street. Take E. Ash Street down many streets until you come to Broadway. Turn right on Broadway. Take Broadway down a down a few blocks to Park Avenue, turn left on Park Avenue. Take Park Avenue down to Forest Avenue. Turn right on Forest Avenue. The map then shows the first left as Echo Lake Drive. It branches off Forest Avenue at an angle. Take that street. Right after you take that angle onto Echo Lake, your very first right is Fountain Boulevard. It is only one block long. That is where the Fountain Park Dining Hall should be located. >From I75 South, the directions are the same except that you take a right on E. Ash Street when exiting the freeway. 3. I will be taking some time off from these lists for approximately one month. I will be administering the Spence and Inman lists (questions of a technical nature, subscriptions, unsubscriptions, etc.), but I won't be posting genealogical material or answering genealogical questions. The reason? I have to get that "Twigs of Inman & Spence" website up and operating and I have to get the first article written on the South Carolina Spencers! The piece of documentation I discovered the other day on the SC Spencers, unleashed an avalanche. I am thankful for the four-day weekend because I hope to get a lot of it written. Also, we will be gone from July 22 through July 25. The reason? We are attending a Beall family reunion on the Western Slope near Durango, CO (my husband's family). My goal is to have the website up and operating before we leave on that trip. Meanwhile, keep posting. I'll catch up with all of you later!!! Have a wonderful 4th of July!!! 3. Alvira Inman Osborne was born in Chautauqua County in New York around 1824 (the 1855 census lists her age as 31). I have also seen her name as being Elmira. Her husband was William Osborne. I have been told that she was Indian, from the Seneca tribe. Their children were Andrew, Ellen, George, and Layfaette, according to the census. That is all I know. 1. From the Listowner: New Website
    2. Dr. Barbara Inman Beall
    3. As those of you know on the Spence list, I finally made a major breakthrough on the Spencer line. The question is, what am I going to do with the information? I have enough information now to write a library? I've been planning on writing a book, but how would I focus that information? I decided that to continue posting all the information I find on these discussion lists wastes a lot of space since half of the people (and sometimes more than half)aren't interested! Also, there is another problem with writing a book: once it's in print, it's unchangeable. There is nothing more disgusting than paying a huge price for a book that is full of errors. So I finally reached a decision. For some time now, I have been wanting to create an on-line newsletter. I have settled upon a title: "Twigs of Inman & Spence". (Of course, related families will be included--Perry, Carpenter, Hopper, Spencer, Waiste, Sterns, Clay/Klee, etc.) By using this format, people will be able to access and download or print out only those articles that they are interested in reading. I am definitely serious about doing this since I finally bought my software today!!! The next step (besides writing all of this material), will be to decide upon a server. But that's something I am looking into now. I have almost 30 large notebooks full of material. It is time to start writing what I have. (Actually, while organizing all of my recently acquired materials over the weekend, I discovered a pesky link I have been seeking for several years. There it was--buried in all of my chaos!!!) After the website is in operation and as I write and add articles, I can let the list know what is available. 3. As listowner of these two lists (Inman and Spence), I want to thank each and every one of you for your participation on these lists and for your wonderful treatment of one another. Yesterday, I began subscribing to a large number of lists (some of which I founded on the old Maiser site). I withdrew from all of them during the time I was busy working on my doctorate. I decided to rejoin a few of the lists and "catch up" on recent discoveries. One of those lists pitched me right in the middle of a "shouting match" between two individuals, one of whom was unhappy with the analysis of the other!!! I am wondering whether I should remain on that list or withdraw. I am so glad that we don't have that kind of thing on either of these lists. Thank you! You are wonderful people!!!
