Do you know how to lighten them? I have several photos of my relatives and the worst one is so dark it is hard to see and too dark to copy on my xerox. What to do? Phil Swinford, Muncie, now in TX [email protected] >> Hi _ It has been my experience that tintype photographs will not reproduce on a normal copy machine. I take mine to a local photo shop who use to photograph them and make a negative. They would adjust the contrast to brighten them up in the process. Now this place has a machine that looks like a copy machine and will enlarge any to any size up to 11 X 14 or make several wallet size in one operation. The contrast can be set to obtain the best possible results. Several tintypes can be run at the same time, but they should all be of equal quality for decent results. Finding tintypes of equal quality is a rare thing! I have a 2X 3 tintypes enlarged to 5 x 7 with 2 copies for $9.95. This is with the contrast adjust to the best possible results. I have many tintypes some are unidentified and some are so dark they are beyond identification or recovery. I hope this information will help.
