The only problem with what you sent me is that the mother of Clarence Gustin (b. Nov. 1865) was not Julia Lydia "Fannie" Newport, but was Elisa Smith. Clarence was, to my knowledge, the last of the children. I have the carbon copy of a letter that my Grandfather, Merle Franklin Gustin, typed to Mrs. Elva R. Adams, Museum Director, Warren County Historical Society, Lebanon, Ohio, on June 16, 1972. In this letter he states of his grandfather, Benajah, "His childrens first names were William, Sally, Kate, Ben, by first wife, and Webster, Mahlor, Chalmer, Phil, Jenny, Ada, Louise, Edward, and Clarence (my Father). Off hand I canniot give you the names of the other two children at this time. In 1867 my Grandfather, his second wife, and nine children came to Indiana in a covered wagon, and stopped in Chesterfield for 6 months. All had been born in Ohio, except my Father who was born in Chesterfield. They came on to Anderson. My Grandfather operated a Blacksmith Shop and four of his sons became Blacksmiths. Originally three Gustin brothers came from the Isle of Jersey to Pittsburg, Pa., and built a raft and came down the Ohio river to Cincinnati, and separated there."
