Good morning Andy -- I am also still "digging" into the DERRY family and would very much like to continue keeping in touch with you. It certainly looks as if "my" BAZIL DERRY (1786-1879) from Fayette Co., PA had a younger brother named JACOB DERRY. They both show up in the 1820 PA Census where Jacob is married and has two sons under 10 and then the family is gone by the 1830 Census with Bazil still remaining in Fayette Co. I do believe that this is one and same JACOB DERRY (b-1795 VA) who married RACHEL BRIGHT (b-1797 VA) that we find settling down in Adams County, Illinois. The two sons under age 10 in the 1820 PA Census correspond nicely to Jacob and Rachel's first two sons, PHILIP born 1817 and BASIL born 1820. I have BASIL DERRY's pension papers from the Civil War and it definitely states that he was born in PA -- and with a name like "Basil/Bazil" -- strongly points to the fact that he could have named after his "Uncle Bazil" (my husband's 4th-g-grandfather). Also, in the 1870 MO Census for Lewis County it looks like JACOB DERRY is living with son-in-law FRANK SLATER as follows: SLATER, Frank 26 born PA Cooper Head of Household Elizabeth 24 born ILL Louisa 4 born MO Samuel 2 born MO DERRY, Jacob 74 born PA What do you think? There is a JACOB DERRY who shows up in INDIANA briefly during the in-between years -- but I haven't been able to confirm if this is the same man. Joan Derry
