Here is the 1860 GARDNER information. Note that there is a 2nd GARDNER (Archebald and Unes) who are old enough to be parents of Abram. Also, I found a bio of Abraham Cottrell in Pioneers of Madison and Hancock county, 1898 by Samuel Hardin. This bio says that he is the father of Mary A. who married Abram Gardner. Here is the relevant part of the bio. (interesting with regard to the recent conversations regarding the Chapman cemetery.) I hope that there is some new information here for you. Elizabeth, born July 13, 1826; married to Jesse Pilkenton; he died in 1890 and is buried at the Fort cemetery. JOhn H., born October 10, 1829; resides near the county line, in Green township. He was first married to Jane Pettigrew. She died in 1880, and is buried in Beech Grove cemetery. He was the second time married to Margaret Anderson, September 19, 1880. She was born near Pendelton, July 17, 1837. ....Hester, born July 12, 1823, married first to John Gardner. He died in the army in 1861. She was again married to James Clark. William, born January 29, 1834; married to Margaret Williams. Both deceased and buried at the Chapman cemetery. Lydia, born May 11, 1836; married Carlos Savage; reside in Pendelton. Abram, born March 17, 1839; died in infancy, August 10, 1840. Samuel P. born November 24, 1840; died in the army, March 7, 1862 at Ft. Donelson. He was in the Eleventh Indiana Volunteers. Thomas J., born Septyember 22, 1843; married Marry Scott. He died June 15, 1883, and is buried at the Chapman cemetery. His wife died in Missouri.
