Today when a person buys property, the abstract company checks back for only fifty years. Earlier research in the deed records may show the tract of land being sold except for that portion set off for a cemetery, therefore the current owner, in my opinion, would not own it. Also, deed records will show if a family turned over to the township trustee the land on which the cemetery is located, then it would not belong to the current owners of land adjoining it. However, in this latter case, I would think the county would haverecords on this. Let's have some comments.. [email protected]
