Dear Listers: I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Sandy Hennis and I am your list administrator. At this time, I want to call the attention of the List to a couple of items: 1. In the near future, I will begin calling roll on this list at various times and I will be asking for different types of information, including surnames, brick-wall ancestors, and success stories. Please be thinking about what you might be submitting when called upon to do so. You will be requested to submit these things at a later time. 2. INMADISO-L MAIL LIST: In addition to the usual research inquiries, what discussions would you like to see appear in the mail list? Is there anything you would like to see discussed or addressed about genealogy in Madison County, or about the County's history? Why did you subscribe to the list? What is the purpose of this list, as you see it? What do you think would be beneficial to the list, or how can it be improved, especially from YOUR view? What are your interests specifically. Or, do you like the status quo? I'd like to see some discussion on this point, please. 3. GATEWAY BETWEEN MAIL LIST AND GENCONNECT MESSAGE BOARDS: What is your opinion about us providing an automatic gateway from the Madison County Query Boards at GenConnect to the mail list? We have this option available to us and it means that every query posted on the message board would automatically come to the list. Listers would have the opportunity to reply to the poster (through the message boards) if they choose to do so. You can visit the query Board at: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/In/Madison Listers, you can discuss the pros and cons about the gateway on the list for a bit, and we'll see what you think about it. There will be additional posts about the Web site and the mail list following this one. I am separating the topics I need to address for your convenience.
