    3. Thanks, Valerie, for your suggestion about the intestate records. Valerie wrote "I would like to see a section for people to put intestate records." There is an area provided for these records, and that is on the GenConnect Will Board, which may be found at: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/In/MadisonWill or which may also be reached by clicking on the WILLS Puzzle piece at the home page of the Web site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inmadiso/index.htm The Will Board is an excellent place to archive these types of records, and can be used to record estate administration documents, whether the deceased died with a will, or without a will. An example of a report which might be recorded on the will board in an intestate estate administration would be the one where the assets are finally settled. This document is referred to as "Final Distribution" Report or words to that effect. Not only do these documents often set out the basic information about the deceased, such as where and when the death occurred, but they also set forth the names, ages and addresses of the heirs at the time of the death and the amounts of properties they received. Another document which might be recorded would be one which determined heirship, i.e. where the Court has, upon a petition by an interested party, determines who the heir of the Deceased are. So, there are several types of estate administration documents which might be recorded on the Will Board, including those where the decedent died testate, i.e. with a will; and those where the decedent died intestate, i.e. without a will. ** For further information about the Boards at GenConnect, the "Pensions" Board may mislead many persons as to what to post on it. Actually, it is a good place for recording information about military pensions. Civil War Pensions, etc. could be recorded and related here. Keep in mind that queries are ALLOWED ONLY ON THE QUERY BOARD in the GenConnect Boards; the other Boards are provided for recording of information and queries are inappropriate on them, unless the query is directly in reply to a particular piece of information which has been previously posted. It appears to me that many people are confused about the GenConnect Boards which are not specifically the "QUERY" or message boards and hopefully, this information may help to start de-mystifying them. *** Also, Roy wrote: "In some County Sites I have visited in other States there are maps of the area or links to that State and Counties. A County map with the availability to zoom in and out is an asset when searching for exact locations." This would be a very desirable tool to have and we will be working on this for the future. *** Thanks to everyone who is participating in the various recent discussions. I appreciate hearing from all of you. Happy Hunting, Sandy Hennis, List Admin. INMADISO-admin@rootsweb.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
