    2. Good morning Phyllis -- How wonderful for you to offer to look up early birth records from Madison County! I am researching the family of DERRY (Dairy, Darey, Darry, Darrey, Derrey, Dery). One of the early settlers was JEREMIAH DERRY (b-1802). My interest is in ANY folk by this name as I am trying to weave the family together. A big first-name focus would be JACOB DERRY. Thanks so very much! Joan Derry MDMama2841@aol.com

    3. I can provide a few additional details, although I'm not sure of the source and there are a few problems (e.g., Thomas & Sarah appear to have married well after the birth of their child). Some of the dates differ from those in your list: Thomas Beals (b. 1625/1630 in Beal-on-the-Hill, North Durham, England; d. in Pennsylvania) m. 3 Oct 1685 in Edgemont, PA to Sarah Edge (b. Jul 1657 in St. Andrews, Holborn, Middlesex, England; d. 26 Apr 1692 in Chester, Delaware Co., PA). I have info on 5 generation's of Sarah's ancestors (back to about 1545). John Beals (b. Abt 1665 in Rumbaldaweeke, Sussex, England; d. 17 Dec 1726 in Nottingham Twp., Chester Co., PA) m. 11 Jan 1682 in Chester, Delaware Co., PA to Mary Clayton (b. 29 Jun 1665 in Rumbaldaweeke, Sussex, England; d. 1682 in Calvert, Baltimore Co., MD. Mary Beals [d/o John Beals & Mary Clayton] (b. 24 Feb 1692 in Chester Co., PA; d. 1740 in Fredrick, VA) m. 1 Apr 1710 in Concord, Chester Co., PA to Richard Harrold (b. 1680 in England; d. bef 1730 in PA). {Richard's father also was named Richard and was b. in 1664 in England). [Descendants of this line can be traced to NC, OH, and first appear in Grant Co., IN by the 1840's [Nathan Brown Moon and Leah Schooley Harrold] and Madison Co. about 1900 [Mabel Evaline Keller and siblings]. -- Ted ----- Original Message ----- From: <GraveNews2@aol.com> To: <INMADISO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 28, 2000 7:13 AM Subject: [INMADISO-L] Beals, Bowater, Williams > Hi to some of the east-central Indiana lists. 3. These are definitely Quaker names. However, there is no proof of the parentage of John Beals. Both Thomas & William have been offered, with no proof. Also, that date of birth is suspect as well. The Quaker-Roots list would be able to help you out more with these lines. --- GraveNews2@aol.com wrote: > Hi to some of the east-central Indiana lists. Two questions. 1. Did you mean the Da to be Davis? 2. How did you find out those Davis' came from NJ? This is real important as the parents of my Asa Davis came from NJ. Looking forward to your answers. Eldon

Pat Jones Smith BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK Bridgeton, Missouri 1843 -------- 1963 This burying ground at 4616 Long Road was made into a memorial park in 1962. In 1959 several lawsuits were filed against the City for allowing the cemetery to deteriorate. Individual stones had already been removed "through error and misunderstanding" but members of the Bridgeton Historical Commission were able to learn the names of some who were buried there and a large monument was erected in 1963 which bears this inscription, "We honor the people buried here. They were part of this nations adventure and their vision lighted the path we follow today." At the dedication ceremonies, Mrs. Anna Wilson gave a talk about colored veterans who are buried here. Records indicate that the cemetery was integrated from its beginning in 1858. It was in use as late as 1954 and at least 100 people are buried in the two acres. 2. In the 1914 Anderson High School year book there are the names of Ruth Davis and Caroline Davis. Also Cameron Branson. Maybe some branch of those families. PhilSford@aol.com

    1. Re: [INMADISO-L] Madison County birth records
    2. Hi Phyllis, Thanks for the offer. My Madison Co family was Asa Davis and wife Mary Jane Branson (2G grandparenets). Asa was in the county as early as 1838 when he filed for the last of the public land in Washington Twp of Delaware Co IN. He married Mary Jane in 1846 and they lived in the Anderson Twp of Madison Co from 1847 to 1858/59. At that point the family moved to the Van Buren Twp and lived there until 1864. Then off to Champaign Co IL. While in Madison Co they had at least three children who lived and possible several who may not have lived if the gap in the birth years is any indication. If possible I would like the birth date of the children. 1. Thomas M. Davis b. abt 1849 2. Annie Davis b. abt 1854 3. Augustus F. Davis b. abt 1858 My G G/D Theodore K. Davis was born 6 Nov. 1860. I might also ask if you folks have a family file section in the library. If so, I would appreciate it if you could check to see if there are any Davis families who were present in Madison Co by by about 1835. If so there may be a clue to help me find the names of Asa's parents. I've been trying for three years to find these names but to no avail. All I know about Asa's youth is that he was born someplace in OH in Feb 1818. Re his parents all I know is they were both born in NJ. Any ideas appreciated. I might also add I have a more complete writ-up on the Asa Davis family and if you think it worth while I could send it to the library for the family files. All for now. Eldon Davis

    3. Thanks for the reminder Phyllis, for that great source of data online through the State Library. The one that is available on Ancestry.com though, is an Indiana Marriage Index for the years 1845-1920. The State Library index online (and free ALL the time!) is for the years 1820-1850, as you stated. So, for a short time it was available to find later marriages, and if you are an Ancestry member you can continue to do so, or wait until it's offered "free" again! -----Original Message----- From: HWLeedom@aol.com [mailto:HWLeedom@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, September 21, 2000 9:47 PM To: INMADISO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [INMADISO-L] CRAYCRAFTs and JACKSONs Dear List Members: The Indiana Marriages from 1820-1850 maybe on Ancetry.com free untio today but you can access it free anytime through the Indiana State Library website.
