Hi Roy, There are many Havens in Rush County related to the Rev. James Havens. However, my ancestor is NOT one of them. Elijah Havens was a shoemaker for a while in Rushville. He was born in KY and after Rushville moved on to Tipton Co. Do any of your Havens mention my Elijah and Catherine? Dorothy
Marilyn, There is a Mt. Zion Cemetery website on ROOTSWEB. I hope that helps. Hi Everyone - I have not submitted the surnames I am researching for some time, so here they are: Eastes (Estes, ect.), Harvey, Webb, Cunningham, Scott, Havens, Pulley, Long, Poor, Parr, and Eck. Best Regards Roy <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< END >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> When we record our heritage we take great pride in looking at our list of ancestors and admire their origins, migrations and accomplishments. But, what good is it - unless it’s true? We need stories and rumors, they are great and often lead to the truth! BUT - Help eliminate errors. Don't take anything as Fact! Check references for validity! If we don’t our children’s children will be led down false trails and they will never be able to find their true heritage.

I had a teacher, JOE APPLE, when I was in the fifth or sixth grade in Burris School, Muncie. IN. That would have been about 1939.

I'm forwarding this to the Madison & Delaware Co lists as there may be something helpful to researchers of these surnames. Lou in Indiana Some of the early Germans 1795-1805 to Clermont-Brown Co OH Date: 11/16/00 12:04:41 PM US Eastern Standard Time From: hermfagley@juno.com (HERMON B FAGLEY) To: OHCLERMO-L@rootsweb.com There was an intermarriage between one of the most important Felicity and Lewis Twnsp,Brown Co German's [Bolender's and in-laws Shinkles, and the most important in the Milford,Clermont-Hamilton Co, Christian Waldschmidt.. The latter d 1814,but his stone house on RT 126 survivies where his mills drew a settlement of ermans, that spread into Goshen and Miami Twnsp's, if not sw Warren Co. Waldschmidt's 1st wife was a Bolender, and his father, Rev Waldschmidt's church records of the Reading, Pa-Lebanon, Pa, Heidleberg, Pa region survive, in print, and perhaps on-line. Wm Penn recruited Germans for his colony of Pa. Counties like Lancaster, Lebanon, and Berks were-are largley German in many neighborhoods. 1729 Pa [?] Pa started keeping ships rosters of in-coming German's, and they are on-line. German churches often kept far better records than English. And many survive, in-part on-line. There is a Brushy Valley in Centre Co,mid Pa where many migrating to Clermont spent a few years. Don't waste much time on that 5-15 years, unless you need something. Penn State U area of mid Pa. German's are more likely found where the land has hills. Watch for multiple spellings Polender=Bolender=Bolander, Vogelen=Vogelei=Fagaly=Fagley Schenkel= Shinkle This makes using search engines harder, but not impossible, even rootsweb. FEGLEY-L-request@rootsweb.com BOLENDER-L-requst@rootsweb.com SUBSCRIBE Becklehymer=Picklesimer=BEHYMER=B'HYMER Book on the latter is Picklesimer. And "The Fagaly family in America" . Library may have just the book you need, but you are searching for wrong spelling. _________________________
I'm looking for 'AROMINE' who is on this list. I found an obituary that has info about a John Smith who died at a Romine house. Hoping that he can help me identify this man. Thanks, Barbara Richardson

Great!!! I needed that chuckle. We have probably known a branch manager. Lou in Indiana
Thank you, that was great! Valerie Williams
While looking up my family tree I found some who had never come down. One claimed to be the branch manager.
I found this on another list and thought it might provide your chuckle for the day. Geneology Quips My family coat of arms ties at the back ... is that normal? My family tree is a few branches short! All help appreciated. My ancestors must be in a witness protection program! Shake your family tree and watch the nuts fall! My hobby is genealogy, I raise dust bunnies as pets. How can one ancestor cause so much TROUBLE?! I looked into my family tree and found out I was a sap ... I'm not stuck, I'm ancestrally challenged. I'm searching for myself; Have you seen me? If only people came with pull-down menus and on-line help ... Isn't genealogy fun? The answer to one problem leads to two more! It's 2000 ... Do you know where your G-G-Grandparents are? A family reunion is an effective form of birth control. A family tree can wither if nobody tends it's roots. A new cousin a day keeps the boredom away. After 30 days unclaimed ancestors will be adopted. Am I the only person up my tree ... sure seems like it. Any family tree produces some lemons, some nuts, and a few bad apples. Ever find an ancestor HANGING from the family tree? FLOOR: The place for storing your priceless genealogy records. Gene-Allergy: It's a contagious disease but I love it. Genealogists are time unravelers. Genealogy is like playing hide and seek: They hide ... I seek! Genealogy: Tracing yourself back to better people. "Crazy" is a relative term in my family. A pack rat is hard to live with but makes a fine ancestor. I want to find ALL of them! So far I only have a few thousand. I Should have asked them BEFORE they died! I think my ancestors had several "Bad heir" days. I'm always late. My ancestors arrived on the JUNEflower. Only a Genealogist regards a step backwards, as progress. Share your knowledge, it is a way to achieve immortality. Heredity: Everyone believes in it until their children act like fools! It's an unusual family that hath neither a lady of the evening or a thief. Many a family tree needs pruning. Shh! Be very, very quiet ... I'm hunting forebears. Snobs talk as if they had begotten their own ancestors! That's strange: half my ancestors are WOMEN! I'm not sick, I've just got fading genes. Genealogists live in the past lane. Cousins marrying cousins: Very tangled roots! Cousins marrying cousins: A non-branching family tree Alright! Everybody out of the gene pool! Always willing to share my ignorance ... Documentation ...The hardest part of genealogy. Genealogy: Chasing your own tale! Genealogy ... will I ever find time to mow the lawn again? That's the problem with the gene pool: NO Lifeguards I researched my family tree ... and apparently I don't exist!
Hi to those who wrote about the Shinkle history. I am not related. My daughter had done some research for a former friend and had made a copy of the book at the Allen Co Public Library (Ft Wayne IN), not the Clermont Co OH Library, as I stated earlier. So if you do research at Ft Wayne, you are in luck. She hasn't had time to look for the copy, but I will keep reminding her, and let you know when she does. Lou in Indiana
