    2. Connie, I would appreciate a lookup for KENNEDY, HENDRICKS and UNDERWOOD. Thanks for the offer Virgene Ditto for me....at least the HENDRICKS name. I am trying to see if somewhere in the line,Thomas Andrews Hendricks, was a first cousin to my gr-grandfather, Emanual Burns Hendricks. This is what has been passed down for years. Any help would be appreciated. Eilene Cook

    2. Was your Elizabeth Ringer Morris related to the Ringers from Maryland to Indianapolis in the 1820's? There are quite a few Ringers buried in a Lutheran cemetery near the State Fairgrounds. Marilyn Barber Danville, IN

    3. I am the great great grandson of Nicholas Closser and Elizabeth Ringer Morris, for many years residents of the Summitville, IN area. One of their daughters, Margaret Almeda (b 8 Aug 1852 probably in Union County, IN and d 24 Jan 1930). In about 1869 she married Elmer Oldfield (b 1849 d 10 Nov 1938). They had 15 children, of whom 13 survived. They lived in the Summitville area. Another daughter, Elizabeth Jane (b 17 Jul 1854) m John Doe (Doc) Eastus (b about 1850) Lived near Gaston, IN. I have more information if desired. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, March 09, 2000 9:06 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [INMADISO-L] Eastes, Maynard, Oldfield, Payne, Morris, Springsteen,McLone... In reply to Letter 3/9/00 by [email protected] titled Eastes, Maynard, Oldfield, Morris, etc. Thanks for posting the names and dates from the pedigree chart. I have many of these already in my files and the more dulicates I find, the more authentic they become. The Eastes you list are the descendants of Obadiah Eastes and Francis Harvey. They were married in 1792 in Edgefield, SC and later migrated up the Wilderness Trail to KY where they bought land and lived until 1802. Then they migrated north up the White Water River west of Cincinnati (not the White River that runs through Anderson), bought land in various places and finally settled in Mt Comfort, Hancock Co. Obadiah, Francis and many of their family members are buried in the Eastes/Harvey Cemetery in Mt Comfort, which is marked with a historical marker. In 1994 I published a hardback book, The Eastes Families of Indiana that lists all know descendants of this couple. I donated a copy to the library in Anderson and in Marion where I was born. Since this book was written, many new facts have been uncovered. For example we have found that Obadiah's father was Elisha Estes/Eastus who probably came from VA and died in Roane Co., TN in 1818. I am currently scanning photographs of descendants of this family to CDs. The oldest one so far is Jane Eastes, the oldest daughter of Obediah and Francis. Jane was born in Edgefield SC in 1793 and walked with her parents and pack horses up the Wilderness Trail to KY. Jane died in 1888 so the tintype was taken before that date. I am scanning these pictures to CD to preserve them but also, I intend to write another book covering Obadiah's Father Elisha, and the descendants of Obadiah's 8 brothers and sisters. Where possible I want to insert a picture of the individuals and places of interest within the text. If anyone knows of any descendants of Obadiah and Francis Harvey who are interested in donating copies of old photographs to this project please have them contact me. 2. In sorting thru some of my piles (I mean files) I came across a pedigree chart, dated, 1992, but no compiler's name on the chart. As I recall, it was someone who was researching these families and thought some were my husband's lines. Some were only connected in a very round-about way. None were his lines. I have seen some of these names on the Madison, Grant & Delaware County postings, so am sending this to all three in case there might be some helpful clues. 3. Darn it ! Dad Blast it ! Dog Gone ! Bummer ! I'm sorry to seem so upset Barbara, but no that is not the family line I'm searching for. :( I had a feeling you were going to say yes. We are not related to that group. I'll see what I can do about finding you a connection tho. I do know Ray and Wilma ahd a son named Frank, but I have no idea where he is these days. I called my sister-n-law and she said Frank and Maroline were the only children they had. Maroline was killed in a car wreck years ago. Have you seen a copy of Ray's book Excetra (I hope I spelt it right) ? I know the Alexandria Historical Soc. has a copy of it. I will try to find Frank for you, but don't know if he is in IN. still or moved out of state. Good luck on your searching. Maybe some day I'll find our DAVIS line. :) Marcie in IN. -----Original Message----- From: Barbara L Richardson <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, March 08, 2000 11:07 AM Subject: Re: [INMADISO-L] Davis's in Orestes ???? >Marcie, That's the one!!
