    2. Hi Linda, Re; I don't find these names in the DESCENDANTS OF HENRY WEAVER SR, as marrying into the family, but then I don't have complete info. There may be a connection if your family came from Meigs Co OH/ or Mason/Jackson Co (W)VA, previously from Shenendoah Co VA. Roush is not an ancester surname of mine but several married early into the Weaver & Sayre families in that area. There are 2-3 volumes of ROUSH FAMILIES IN AMERICA, but I can't tell you where to find them. Sorry. Happy Hunting, Lou in Indiana

    1. [INMADISO-L] Sullivan & Greenlee to IN
    2. Sherril Erfurth
    3. Lou in Indiana, A major correction in your information: William Sullivan married Elizabeth Greenlee, yes, GREENLEE with an "n". She was daughter of Maurice & Nancy K. Greenlee. This is the problem with using other people's shared information and not vertifying it, or not having access to the information to vertify it. This happens often. William stayed in VA/WVA not relocating to Indiana with Thomas and Jeremiah/Jefferson (he went by either name). There is a Sullivan Cemetery near Leon, Cologne District. "Located south of Leon on the William B. Jividen, on high point overlooking the Kanawha River, in Mason County, West VA--just across the river from Meigs County. I was there last summer, found & photographed nearly all of the 26 graves that are listed in the book "Mason County, W.Va. Cemetery Inscriptions compiled by Juanita K. Burdette. Leon, West Virginia. I called the author, apparently she has close relatives in this cemetery. It is in the middle of a cow pasture, not visible from the road. William Greenlee has a 6+ foot tall by 12+' square tombstone with his 2 wives (Elizabeth & Rachel) on alternate sides. According to the notes in this book, "William came to Mason Co. in 1820, son of Dennis who was b. in Ireland." Some of the other Greenlee & Sullivan's are buried there. Sherril Erfurth (in Colorado)

    1. Re: [INMADISO-L] Sullivan & Sayre OH & IN--LONG
    2. Hi Donna, Cheryl Erfurth generously sent me information on the Sullivans. The Sullivan I was searching for was of a second marriage. However, the info she sent shows the half-sister who married a Sullivan also came to Madison Co, and this one is related to me. I just received the info and am digesting it. It appears from the material that one of the Sullivan families had a child born 1854 in Ohio and the other Sullivan family had a child born 1854 in IN. If they came together and the census is accurate, they came to Madison Co in 1854. Also coming probably at the same time were the Greelees. The Sullivan & Greelee wives were children of John Sayre who owned land in both Meigs Co Oh & Mason Co (W)VA (just across the river). The first wife of John Sayre was Mary Weaver, a sister to my Henry Weaver, Jr. Also coming from Monongalia Co (W)VA to Meigs Co & Mason Co were Mary & Henry's brothers, John & Nicholas Weaver. Many of these families intermarried with into the Roush family that came from Shenendoah Co VA. There were several early Sayres and Roush families in both Meigs & Mason Co. It would not surprise me if there wasn't some kind of connection with your family. If you have any Weaver, Sayre or Roush connection, I may have some kind of info for you. Happy Digging. - Lou in Indiana

    3. As far as I know your Sullivan lineage doesn't connect with my McDermits or Minichs, but I am most interested that your ancestors came from Mason Co., WV also and apparently homesteaded in Madison Co., IN. So did my husband's McDermit family. Samuel McDermit and Julia Minich homesteaded in 1863 in Boone Twp. of Madison Co. not far from Forrestville Cemetery and are buried there. Julia's mother, Elizabeth, is also buried in Forrestville. Do you know if your Sullivans may have came out with anyone else or what time frame they came in? I guess I am curious. 1. Re: [INMADISO-L] Answer to "Missing in 1850 IN census" & Vital Records info
    2. In a message dated 5/20/2000 9:44:11 AM Central Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: << Census Records Federal censuses for the state of Indiana began in 1820, continuing every ten years and currently available through 1920; the mostly destroyed 1890 census being excluded. The 1820 census is missing for the county of Daviess, and the 1870 & 1910 censuses are currently unindexed. It is also noted that many rural residents were missed in the 1850 census, though appear on the 1850 agricultural enumerations. An 1807 territorial census exists and has been published, as has one for 1810 (for Harrison County only). Few state censuses are available. >> Thanks for the Facts Sheet. Does anyone have any idea where a copy of this 1807 Territorial Census can be found? I had ancestors in the area at this time and I would appreciate any information on this document! Roy Eastes Gulfport, MS <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< END >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> When we record our heritage we take great pride in looking at our list of ancestors and admire their origins, migrations and accomplishments. But, what good is it - unless it’s true? We need stories and rumors, they are great and often lead to the truth! BUT - Help eliminate errors. Don't take anything as Fact! Check references for validity! If we don’t our children’s children will be led down false trails and they will never be able to find their true heritage.

    3. For Lou in IN, are you tied in with any of the Bunners in Delaware Co. Several lived in the Springport area East side of Delaware Co. I have several Bunners listed from that area. Jim R.Swimming with mermaids [email protected]
