Hoopingarner Dies In Hospital Kent James Hoopingarner, 56 years old, veteran of World War I, died July 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Billings Veterans Hospital, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis after an illness of five weeks. He was born March 20, 1892 at Townsend, Ind. to Isaac N and Florence Sallee Hoopingarner. He was married in January 1919 to Miss Florence Bunlingame at Syracuse. N. Y. who survives. Other survivors are his son, Elbert Kent Hoopingarner, Syracuse. N. Y., his mother. Washington county, and four sisters, Mrs. Lola Newton, Ganon City, Colorado, Mrs. Leah Phillips, Mrs. Elsa Hayes and Mrs. Dorothy Dodd. all of Lawrence county. His father and three brothers have preceded him In death. He was a sergeant in Company C 49th infantry having enlisted April 17, 1917, at Ft. Logan, Colorado. He was discharged June 4, 1919. He was a member of the White River Baptist Church at Buddha. member of the American Legion Post No. 195 at Campbellsburg. He was also a member of the I. O. O. F. lodges at Campbellsburg and New Albany. Funeral services will be conducted at the Day and Carter chapel Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev, A. E. Chastain of Monroe City in charge, Burial will take place at Tunnelton. Following burial preparation the body will be taken to the home of his daughter. Mrs. Tom Dodd, Palestine Road, at ten o'clock Wednesday, where it will lie in state.
