DAILY TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA TUESDAY, JULY 20, 1948 JACOB GEHRING TAKEN BY DEATH Jacob Gehring, 78 years old, retired farmer and former Public Service Company of Indiana employee residing on Williams R. R. 1 died at 4:45 am, today at Dunn Memorial hospital where he was admitted July 16. He had been ill since the ninth of this month. A native of Germany, he was born in Wurttemberg December 5, 1871 to Henry and Elizabeth Gehring. He Was twice married, first with Anna Tolbert, who preceded him In death, His second marriage was with Ola Knott and occurred at Williams August 21, 1900, who survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Christian Burton of Bedford, of his first marriage; two sons and two daughters of his second marriage, Walter Gehring of Williams; Paul Gehring, of the U.S. Navy stationed in Florida; Mrs. Marie Smith, of Williams, and Mrs. Mae Smith, of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, two brothers, John Gehring, of Williams and Gottieb Gehring, of Bedford, A daughter, Mrs. Anna Smith, of his first marriage, preceded him in death. The body was brought to the Sherwood & Ferguson Funeral Home for burial preparation and Will lie in state there after noon Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted from the Williams Church of Christ, of which he was a member, at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon with Brother Omer Porter officiating. Interment will follow in the Williams Church of Christ Cemetery.
