BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1899 FATALLY HURT Harry Hodges Thrown From a Horse at 11 O'clock Wednesday Harry Hodges aged 27 years was thrown from a mare, a short distance west of Salt Creek bridge, on the Limestone road, at 11 o'clock Wednesday and received injuries which will result in his death. He was leading a beef cow with a rope, when the cow jerked loose and scared the mare, which threw him off on a pile of rocks. Several ribs on the left side were broken. A man who was with him called in help and carried him to the nearest house, where he now lies in a dying condition. Harry is a brother of Leslie Hodges, the 16th street butcher. LATER Harry Hodges is still alive, but in a precarious condition. His symptoms indicate serious injury of the liver and kidneys. He was taken to the home of his brother, Leslie Hodges in the east part of town, Thursday. NOTE: Harry Hodges passed away January 6, 1900 and was buried at Leatherwood Cemetery
