DAILY TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA THURSDAY, JULY 18, 1957 John Tirey Dies At Home John H. Tirey died at 6:30 p.m. yesterday at his home on Mitchell, R. R. 1. He was 81 years old. He was a farmer and was born to Henry J. and Mahala Way Tirey on Oct. 29, 1875 in Lawrence County. About 1901 he married Jencie Long in Lawrence County. She died in 1938. Surviving are five sons, George H., Mitchell, R. R. 3, Harley E., Earl F., Russell F., and Alva S., all Mitchell, R. R. 1, residents. Two brothers , Thomas A. Tirey and William R. Tirey, Mitchell, R. R. 1, 18 grandchildren and 15 great - grandchildren also survive. The deceased was a member of the Spice Valley Baptist Church and funeral services will be conducted there at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Marvin Bridwell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. The Haverly mortuary in Mitchell is in charge of funeral details and friends may call there at any time.
