BEDFORD MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 1901 BOY KILLED Elmer Evans Crushed By a Falling Stone At the Oolitic Mill. While Elmer Evans, a water boy employed at the Oolitic stone mill, was leaning against a pile of stone at the mill, about 10 o'clock Wednesday, a piece of stone about 18 inches thick fell off the top of the pile and struck him in the breast, crushing him to death instantly. Elmer was about 16 years of age, and a son of Frank Evans. ******** FRIDAY, APRIL 12, 1901 The funeral of Elmer Evans took place at the New Union Christian church at 12:30 noon Thursday. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Harley Jackson. The remains were laid to rest in the graveyard at the church. *********** OVER THE WAY The burial of Elmer Evans, the 15 year-old son of Frank Evans, of Trippleton, who was killed at the Hoosier quarry Wednesday, took place at New Union Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Harley Jackson, of Bedford. The bereaved father, mother and sisters have the sympathy of the entire community. NOTE: Elmer Evans: 11 June 1886 3 April 1901.
