DAILY TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, DEC. 8, 1961 RITES HELD FOR BERTHA SHOWERS Funeral services were held yesterday for Mrs. Bertha Showers, 78, one of the founders of Kappa Kappa Kappa Sorority and a member of a pioneer family in the Indiana limestone quarry business. She died Tuesday in Bloomington Hospital. Mrs. Showers and six friends founded the Indiana philanthropic sorority while attending the GirlsÂ’ Classical School in Indianapolis. Her father, the late Frederick Matthews, was a founder of the firm which opened the first Indiana limestone quarry in Monroe County 100 years ago.
