    3. JUDAH Miss Flora Knight did not teach her school Friday and Monday on the account of the death of her brother, Fred Knight, of Indianapolis. ************ OBITUARY. "There is no night in heaven, In that blest world above. Work never can bring weariness, For work itself is love." Fred W. Knight, son of J. D. Knight, living four miles north of the city, died at Indianapolis, Jan. 18, 1901. His remains were brought here last Friday, arriving on No. 5. During the past year Fred had held a position as nurse in the Saint Vincent Hospital at Indianapolis, at which place he died. His disease was pneumonia. He was twenty years, four months and six days old at his death. "We spend our years as a tale that is told," Psalm 90:9. And it is all too true, that many a life is simply an idle story. In view of the brevity of life, each individual life, we may justly say that it is like a tale that is told, soon forgotten. It is true that some stories make a lasting impression on our minds. Who of us has forgotten the story of the "Lost Child," as we used to read it in the old school book of 40 years ago? And so of the life of Lincoln, of Garfield, of Morton and of Staker. The lives of such men have a great influence yet in making and molding society, life is short, but it is long enough. God does not propose to keep us here only till we get ready for the future life. God requires of us haste. The season is short and we all do fade as a leaf, soon gone. Fred was a good gentle boy. There is a season to sow "wild oats," but these he did not sow. We are told that he never used bad language, whisky nor tobacco. What a good foundation for a great man. He joined the M. E. church at the age of 14, and his school and class mates speak in the highest praise of his gentle life. "Yet shall we cherish not the loss, All that is left our hearts meanwhile - The memory of they liveliness, Shall round our gathering smile. Like moon light when the sun is set, A sweet and tender radiance yet." And so Fred will be remembered as we gather once again, as the years go by. A large number attended the funeral, the services being held at the Mt. Pleasant church conducted by Eld. John Williams. There was scarcely none present, who did not shed tears. Bro. Knight and family have the sympathy of all. He leaves a father, step mother and five brothers to mourn. "Yes, like the fragrance that wanders in freshness, When the flowers that I came from, are closed up and gone, So would I be to this world's weary dwellers, Only remembered by what I have done,." The remains were buried in the Fish cemetery. J. W. NOTE: Fred W. Knight: 12 Sep 1880 - 18 Jan. 1901. Burial in Fish Cemetery, Marshall Twp.
