    3. BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, APRIL 25, 1902 Washington, Ind., April 21. – Alexander Killion, aged 80 years, a pioneer farmer of this county, dropped dead this evening at his home near here. Killion, though illiterate and born in humble circumstances, was the owner of 5,000 acres of fine land when he died and was reputed to be worth $500,000, after having given away half that amount to his children within the last ten years. He made it all in farming and never risked a cent in speculation. Killion gained much notoriety by the frequent attempts made to rob and blackmail him. About a year ago his life was threatened unless he gave up $1,500 to the writer of the threatening letter. Killion ignored it, but for weeks had his house guarded by sentinels. He escaped the threatened violence.
