BEDFORD DAILY TIMES BEDFORD, INDIANA THURSDAY, APRIL 4, 1935 DEATH COMES TO W.H. HAMMOND Rites For Well Known Springville Man Arranged For Saturday Morning At 10 O'clock. William H. Hammond, 77 years old, well known Springville resident and for the past forty years agent for the Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville Railroad Company there, died at 7:30 o'clock this morning at his home after an Illness since last November With complications. The body Was removed to the Roach mortuary here for burial preparation and will lie in state there until the funeral, arranged for 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Springville Christian Church, of which he was a member, with Rev. Ralph Bivins, of Bedford, officiating. Buria1 Will follow in the Methodist cemetery there. He was a native of Lawrence county and was born near Springville to Milton and Judith Cassidy Hammond on Apri1 7, 1857, and had he lived until next Sunday, would have celebrated his 78th Birthday anniversary. He was united in marriage at Springville on December 31, 1887 to Miss Jennie Armstrong, who with there three daughters, Mrs. Harland Carmichael, of Springville, Mrs. Grace Knight, of Chi! cago, Ill., and Mrs. Mary Land, of Highland, Calif., survive. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Henry Withrnan. of Bedford, and four grandchildren. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and belonged to the Brotherhood of Railway Telegraphers. He was highly respected In the community where he had spent his long life and his passing removes therefrom a splendid citizen who will be greatly missed.
