TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FEBRUARY 17, 1982 Clarence "Toots" Cathers, 91, R. 13, Springville died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday at the residence. He had been in failing health for several years He was born June 13, l890 in Lawrence County, to Clarence Cathers and Lora Cathers Robinson. He was married to Goldie Geneva Peek Feb. 18, 1914, and she preceded him in death on May 17, 1964. He was employed as grocer and at the post-office in Springville for 60 years. He was a lifetime member of the Springville Christian Church, where he had served as both elder and deacon and was a member of Solsberry Lodge No.411, F & AM for 47 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Betty) Byers, Springville, and Mrs. Gordon (Helen) Carmichael, New Orleans, La; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Violet Marie. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary with burial in Springville Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday. Masonic rites will be conducted at the Day & Carter Mortuary by Solsberry Lodge at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
