MAYO Mrs. Effie Davis Mayo, 91, of 5541 Rinehart Ave., Indianapolis, the home of a daughter, Mrs. Betty Frederick, died at 3 a.m. today in Methodist Hospital where she had entered Aug. 27. She was formerly a long time resident of Bedford and Lawrence County. Born in Lawrence County May 7, 1888, to Henry and Wilda Smith Davis, she married Homer Mayo in 1908 and he preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1967. Surviving are two sons, Myron Mayo of Bedford and Morris Mayo of Indianapolis; two daughters, Betty Frederick, Indianapolis and Norma Breeden of Louisville. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was the oldest and last survivor of her family. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She attended Danville Normal College and was a school teacher in early life in Lawrence County. She was a member of the Bedford First Christian Church and the National Retired Teachers Association. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary Elmwood Chapel with Rev. Dr. R. Robert Cueni officiating. Burial will be in Judah Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m. Friday.
