    3. BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, AUG. 31, 1900 Richard, son of Clarence McMahon, living east of town, died Friday night at 9 o'clock, aged 5 years. The funeral took place Saturday at Ikerd graveyard. SEPT. 14, 1900 OBITUARY. Richard C. McMahan, son of Clarence McMahan, died at his father's residence 7 miles north of Bedford, Aug. 24, 1900. Born Nov. 27th, 1895, aged 4 yrs. 8 months, 29 days. He was only sick one week with whooping and the little one was called away to the one who knows all things well. Who said "Suffer Little Children To Come Unto Me, for of such is the Kingdom of Heaven" and then we bow our heads and say thy will be done, hearts have been broken and tears shed by loved ones, but we must give him up. As in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive, whilst this consoles and gives us the blessed hope that we shall meet our darling over there. He was buried in the Ikerd cemetery three miles east of Bedford, Aug. 25th, 1900. Weep not dear sorrowing friends, your darling boy is at rest. Beyond this world of sorrow, where partings never come. His chair at the fireside now is vacant. His voice and footsteps will be heard no more in the saddened home and the thoughts of the new made grave will throw a shadow over all of their pathways. Blessed are they who die in the Lord, their works do follow them. Father and mother, was hard to give thee up How sad the days that follow. His eyes are closed ne'er to open again Until we meet on that bright tomorrow. Our hearts are almost broken, For his voice no more shall we hear. No more the kiss so gentle and loving, No more thy footsteps to hear. Friendship and love have done their best, And now can do no more. The bitterness of death is rest, And all of they sufferings are o'er. To the bereaved family do we express our deepest sympathies, and may they be consoled with the thoughts that they will meet him in Heaven. A. A. R.
