DAILY TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1961 Rachel Jane Flora Dies Mrs. Rachel Jane Flora, 90 year old resident of Route 2, Mitchell died at 12:45 p.m. Monday at the Vice Nursing Home in Mitchell, where she had been a Patient for the past six months. A native of Lawrence County, Mrs. Flora was born July 17, 1871, the daughter of Daniel W. and Melinda Bass Burgess. She was married to Ulysses G. Flora who preceded her in death in 1940. Survivors include two sons, Cleo and Shirley E. both of Mitchell; three daughters Mrs. Myrtle Quackenbush of Mitchell Mrs. Lilliam Edwards of Miami, Florida and Mrs. Lena Staggs of Indianapolis; one brother, Milt Burgess of Mitchell; one sister, Mrs. Stella Phipps of Huron; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Haverly Mortuary in Mitchell with the Rev. Grant Barton, pastor of the First Christian Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will take place in the Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of the Haverly Mortuary. Friends may call at the Haverly Mortuary at any time.
