TIMES MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 1981 John R. McPike, 78, 225 Lafayette St., Oolitic, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday at his residence following an illness of one month. He was a retired mechanic at Indiana Limestone. He was born July 8, 1903 In Lawrence County, the son of Charles and Martha Brinegar McPike. He was married to Maudeline Smallwood Aug. 22, 1922 and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Ralph Deward McPike, at home; one granddaughter, Cathy L. Strunk of Oolitic, reared in the McPike home; and one great-granddaughter. Also three sisters, Mrs. Mary Adamson and Mrs. Lois Spray, both of R. 1, Heltonville, and Mrs. Ilene Judah of Bedford. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Violet Rose, on June 29, 1925, and a brother, Leonard McPike on March 22, 1980. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Ray New officiating. Burial will be in Lowder Cemetery. Friends may call aft p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
