BEDFORD WEEKLY MAIL BEDFORD, INDIANA FRIDAY, AUG. 31, 1900 DEATH OF GEORGE SCOGGAN. George Scoggan died rather suddenly at Ellettsville about 9 o'clock Aug. 23d, of acute stomach trouble. He went to Ellettsville Wednesday to see a niece who was ill. Mr. Scoggan, was sick at the time he left this city, and became worse after he reached Ellettsville; but got better and wrote his family that he would be home next day. Thursday evening a telephone message was received here that he was dying; and his family went up on the night train. Mr. Scoggan lived on the Samuel Scoggan farm southeast of town, where he was born 64 years ago, and was a good citizen, generally respected. He leaves a wife, two daughters Mrs. William Jackson, and Miss Plum Scoggan and one son, Walter Scoggan. NOTE: George Scoggan: 20 March 1836 23 Aug 1900. Co. E 136th Ind. Inf.
